Tryfon Karatzas (Athens, 5 October 1935 – 17 January 2019) was a Greek television, theater and film actor with a 60-year acting career. In elementary school he was a classmate of Alekos Fasianos. He studied at Panteion University and then with a scholarship at the Drama School of the Athens Conservatory where he had Dimitris Rodiris as a teacher. During his military service he served as an announcer at the Armed Forces Radio Station (1958). After the army, he continued for a number of years to work as a radio announcer, alongside his theatrical activity. From the age of 11 he was a cantor. He started his career in 1957, at the age of 22. Two years later, in 1959, he made his first appearance in the cinema with the film Love Stories, alongside Aliki Vougiouklakis, where he had a small role. He participated among others in the films: The Merchant (1967), The Lamp Against the Outlaws (1967), Those Who Know Love (1968), Hurt Youth (1969), Shadows in the Sand (1970), Violence and Charm (1989), Gigolo (1993) and Crying Out of Heaven (2001).
